About the event
Allyship is important for Black people to be treated equally—being an accomplice takes it one step further. It is a more effective way to end systemic and institutional racism Black people experience every single day.
During this interactive event, you will connect with fellow members in the most meaningful way by unpacking what it means to be an accomplice for ending systemic and institutional racism.
💖Everyone is welcome to join this event, to learn together, and be better together. Although, we especially encourage non-Black members to join and learn.
There will be 8 rounds in which you will be placed in small group and 1x1 settings to discuss prompts such as:
- Who or what taught you to stand up for the things you believe in?
- Have you heard family, friends, or co-workers say something racially insensitive? How did you respond?
- Have you experienced feelings of guilt, shame, or embarrassment in your anti-racism journey? What did you do with those feelings?
- What are some ways that you can advocate for humanity and equality for all people?
💪🏽This interactive Anti-Racism exercise was designed by Dr. Akilah Cadet, Educator and Founder of Change Cadet.
➡️ We'll be using the interactive female-founded “Gatheround” (formerly Icebreaker) software as our facilitation tool.
✨Show up with an open heart and a curious mind.
🎥✔️: For this event, turning your camera on is essential.
