We asked Brittany about the problem Kōvly Studio solves, how she’s handled self-doubt as an entrepreneur, and what’s next for her and her company.
What problem does Kōvly Studio solve?
So often, business owners feel a major disconnect between their business goals, ideal customer, and brand and marketing. They’re exhausted from trying different approaches and not seeing results. Our team leverages a strategic, data-driven, and psychology-backed approach to help our clients directly connect their efforts to business goals. We take the guessing game out of it and give business owners the clarity they need to connect with their most profitable customers and scale their organizations.
What makes Kōvly Studio different from other companies in the industry?
Development and execution. Our agency capabilities span across strategic planning and development to ongoing implementation, allowing us to truly partner with our clients and support them every step of the way. From brand strategy and web design to campaign planning and digital ad management, we are so honored to support our clients in bringing their biggest business goals to life.
Have you struggled with self-doubt as an entrepreneur? How do you navigate this?
Daily. This is actually one of my key focus areas for growth right now. Even nine years in with a wealth of experience, I have a tendency of making myself “smaller.” From never feeling good enough to very intentionally withholding accomplishments out of fear of coming across arrogant, that self-doubt can get in the way of progress—both for myself and for my company.
I’m so grateful to be surrounded by an incredibly motivating team, a supportive board of directors, and a spouse who grounds me and pushes me to grow. It really is all about surrounding yourself with people who understand your vulnerabilities and can help you navigate them.
How do you celebrate successes along the way?
Based on a framework shared by my business development coach, my team sets rolling 60-day goals in three categories: need, want, and deserve. The “need” goal is the baseline; what we need to maintain comfortable company profitability. Our “want” goal is built based on what we know we can achieve with consistent focus and effort. And finally, the “deserve” goal encompasses our max capacity and talent.
We set rewards for each category. At the end of each 60-day period, we get to celebrate with whatever level we hit.
What have you learned about building a team and a support network around yourself?
It starts with you. As a leader, you have to be immensely connected with who you are, how you show up in the world, and both your strengths and weaknesses. When you understand this, you can lead with authenticity.
I’ll be totally honest, I’ve made countless mistakes as a leader throughout the years. Every single tough moment was rooted in me not feeling comfortable to lead as my authentic self. You’re never going to make everyone happy all the time. But when you can be both genuine and clear, compassionate yet firm, you have the power to instill stability, motivation, and fulfillment within your team.
What would you tell your younger self if you were to start your entrepreneurial journey all over again?
Dream bigger. Take up space. Own it.
What’s next for you and Kōvly Studio?
Over the past year, we’ve evaluated every single aspect of the business. We’ve refined our ideal target market, leveled up services, and created systems so we can confidently—and effectively—continue to scale. Let’s just say we’re nine years in and it still feels like we’re just getting started. Big things ahead!
