Stephanie Loewenstern, Founder of Bright Link Talent, embodies an entrepreneurial legacy and an unwavering work ethic cultivated from her very first job at age 15.

Stephanie’s venture is a testament to prioritizing relationships over transactions. Launched in January 2019, Bright Link Talent places diverse, top-tier talent in high-growth startups and tech companies. Going beyond traditional recruitment, Stephanie’s vision focuses on authenticity, nurturing lasting connections, and crafting individual approaches to meet client needs. Emphasizing quality over quantity ensures personalized attention and a steadfast commitment to integrity.

We asked Stephanie about the story behind Bright Link Talent’s founding, the people who have contributed most to her success, and what she would tell her younger self if she were to start her journey over again.

Tell us the story behind your company’s founding. How and why did you start working on Bright Link Talent?

In January 2019, I took a leap of faith and left my job at a recruiting agency without any savings. The first position I worked at in a startup influenced my passion for working with high-growth companies. It taught me the significance of recruiting by not only helping individuals in their career journeys but also supporting companies in their growth. Every day I am driven by the chance to combine my love for helping people with the freedom of running my own business.

What are some of the most meaningful impacts Bright Link Talent has had so far?

Having a direct impact on individuals’ lives, shaping career paths, and helping companies. For example, I recruited a candidate from NYC in the marketing/advertising industry in 2020. Initially, she was hesitant about the job offer, but she eventually accepted, and I facilitated her relocation to Miami. She recently celebrated three years at the company, helping drive growth from six to more than 30 employees. At a recent party, she expressed to me that I changed her life. This sentiment confirms the joy I get from helping founders expand their businesses and guiding individuals to rewarding careers. It makes the hard days worth it.

What makes Bright Link Talent different from other similar companies in the industry?

We pride ourselves on being genuine, authentic, and building long-term relationships rather than focusing on immediate/transactional opportunities. We really make sure to give exceptional services, only taking on a few searches at a time to ensure quality and attention to detail. We are focused on integrity. At the end of the day, people work with who they like and who they can be themselves with. Since we are boutique, we have different models per client and we get to customize and be flexible to the clients' needs.

In what ways has your upbringing or past experiences contributed to how you operate as an entrepreneur?

I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs and hard workers. My first job was at 15 years old, working in a call center selling Dish Network from a list of printed leads. I'll always remember earning my first $1,000 and the joy of being able to earn for myself. I learned early on to just pick up the phone and make calls. That experience paved the way for me to learn how to take initiative and go for what I want.

What’s one thing you wish you had known before starting Bright Link Talent?

You can't please everyone. Not everyone will like you or want to do business with you. This was a powerful lesson that taught me the importance of having boundaries and trusting my instincts. Running a business involves navigating through both great and challenging seasons. A recent lesson I've learned is to always do what's right, even if it means passing over a significant financial deal or opportunity. Upholding integrity has been key in both the challenging and rewarding times of my journey.

Have you struggled with self-doubt as an entrepreneur? How do you navigate this?

I’ve struggled with self-doubt and wanting to give up throughout the years, especially after my son was born. I became a single mother when he was a few days old, which directly impacted the business. The day I became a mother, I made challenging decisions out of necessity because I wanted the best for my son. I continued to work through maternity leave. I navigated by surrounding myself with a loving community, connecting with people I trust, and having faith. I was committed to making the comeback stronger than the fall while having a growth mindset.

What people have contributed the most to your successes?

The support of my family and building a community around me. Finding allies in the recruiting space and seeing my competitors as friends has also been important. I always look for ways to collaborate with people and be in service. Showing up as myself and being rigorously honest while building the right relationships has made a significant difference.

What would you tell your younger self if you were to start your entrepreneurial journey all over again?

Do it and don’t look back. Be kind and compassionate to yourself, and be prepared to ride the waves of both successes and challenges. Embrace continuous learning while always seeking ways to give back to others. Self-care is your greatest asset and investment. Get enough sleep and drink water!
